The Galena Lady Hawks ended the season on Oct. 27 and 28 with wins against Eielson.

The best player of game was Reese Sam-Marks, who was strong on her serves, said coach Keilah Havener. Coach Havener added that senior Elena Jacobs had sets that shouldn’t have got to the hitter but they did, while senior Kiana Korta had great decisions for when to hit and to tip the ball.

Best moments of the game were when the entire crowd was silent holding their breath before bursting into cheers.

Coach Havener said that there has been challenges with numbers at practice, but the team really came together as a season progressed.

The coach said she appreciated the team’s ability to not give up and go after everything. What didn’t go well was our inability to win on far side of the court.

Next year they’re going to try different rotations, and they’re going to try utilize all players, she said.

Coach Havener added that senior Lynnae Olin-Duncan’s timing was clutch when her serves won the final game Saturday against Eielson. She also said that one the best moments came when Chiara Demientieff got a block turn around and a kill in game four.

The Lady Hawks then went to regionals, where they were eliminated in the first two rounds.
