Lady Hawks fight hard in road games

The Galena Lady Hawks lost two hard-fought contests this weekend on the road.

Galena Lady Hawks vs. Hutchison

The Galena Lady Hawks faced off against the Hutchison Hawks girls team losing 12-36 on Monday (March 8).

At the start of the game, the Galena girls couldn’t quite get their offense going. While that, the Hutchison girls were on a roll, hitting deep threes and executing plays. The first quarter came to an end, Hutchison 14 – Galena 0.

The second quarter was better for the Galena Lady Hawks, with Marlene Moore hitting a three with her teammate Madelyn Nashoanak, making it 6-21 at the end of the first half.

The second half started, and the Hutch girls came out with some tough defense for the Galena girls. They were also hitting their shots, making it a 22-point deficient for the Lady Hawks at the end of the third quarter.

The last quarter was played hard by both teams. Everyone trying their best and having fun. Galena added five more points to end the game 12-36.

Galena Lady Hawks vs. North Pole

The Galena Lady Hawks lost to the North Pole Patriots girl’s team, 15-30 on Monday, March 1.  Heidi Allen led the Lady Hawks with six points.

During the first quarter, the Patriots were on a roll, scoring a total of 11 points. The Lady Hawks not too far behind following at 2 points from Lady Hawk Nevaeh Demientieff.

The second quarter was a little bit better for the Hawks, with Galena scoring 6 points, making it a total of 8. Nevaeh was the leading scorer in the first half with 4 points for the Lady Hawks.

At the start of the second half, things were moving slow for both teams until Heidi hit a three to start it off for the Hawks. Following Heidi was Dasi Parka layup. The Hawks were only down by 15 at the end of the third quarter, 13-28.

The last quarter of the game the girls finished it off with 2 points from Shelby Williams, making it a total of 15 points for the Lady Hawks. Both teams had fun and tried their best.
