Galena Hawks wing Joe Riddle scored 20 points in Saturday’s game against the Hutchison Hawks, leading his team to a 63-60 victory on the road.

During the first half, both teams were on a good start. They were neck and neck, both teams draining three’s and making good plays. But Galena ran away with the lead making it a double-digit deficient for Hutchison. It was 16-32 at the end of the first half.

At the start of the third quarter, it was an even pace. Galena was barely getting through Hutchison’s press with their press break. Still a big lead for Galena. But then the start of the fourth quarter came along and was intense.

Hutchison’s press got physical and intense. Fouling left and right, putting Galena into a double bonus. But Hutch wasn’t letting Galena off that easy. They stole the ball a lot with their press and came back within two-points. Fouling Galena players as soon as they touch the ball to keep the clock from running out of time.

Hutchison tried their best to make a three to put them into overtime but stopped by Galena’s scrambling defenseThe final score was 63-60.
