Both the Galena boys and girls team won all four games against the Delta Huskies on Jan. 9-10 in the SHS gym.

“Our guys played tough, it was a solid win for the guys. First solid win for our conference win,” said Coach Louie Karlberg.

Both boys and girls showed great team work, said coach Karlberg.

The Lady Hawks beat Delta 55-19 on Friday and 51-20 on Saturday. The boys beat Delta 44-33 on Friday and 51-38 on Saturday.

Eric Jones, a sophomore from Emmonak, invigorated the team. Right when he got off the bench, he had make some great plays, stealing the ball and scoring, and had the team pumped because of how well he had done those things.

The first game on Friday night by the Lady Hawks was great. They had started taking the lead by second quarter. By then they had the Nanooks and never looked back.

After the Lady Hawks beat Delta, the guys were up next. The start of the game was intense. By half time, the score was close, but in the fourth quarter, the Hawks had taken the lead.

On Saturday, the guys started off first. They did really great and got the crowd going, with another intense game as both teams had to keep fighting to keep the lead.

The Lady Hawks took the lead on Saturday in the second quarter, and afterwards kept the lead till the end.
