Theater class is ready to perform earnestly
April 9, 2021
Sutton Casey’s Theater Arts class is preforming The Importance of Being Earnest in the SHS gym on May 6 and 7.
The play is going to be free of charge and open to the community, but the maximum amount of people will be determined by the pandemic regulations in place at that time.
The Importance of Being Ernest is a “social satire,” said Mrs. Casey. The plot is about two friends in Victorian England lying about their whereabouts to have a good time.
The students rehearse during their Theater Arts class due to the restrictions of afterschool activities and sometimes relying on Teams to practice their lines.
Natalie Donaldson, the language arts teacher at SHS, is working on the set, and Victorian costumes are being sent from a friend of Mrs. Casey’s in Florida.
The play will be performed by:
Jack – Terrence Okitkun
Algeron – Milo Huntington
Cecily Cardew – Sharron Gilila
Gwendolen – Marlene Moore
Merry Man – Preston Demientieff
Ms. Prism – Ida Bodony
Lady Bracknell – Mrs. Casey
