Selections from Shakespeare’s The Tempest will be presented first period Friday, Dec. 5 and third period Monday, Dec. 8, in the GILA theater, with a time and date for an evening performance to be announced soon.

The play is performed by students in Kate Quinn’s American literature class.

Why Shakespeare in an American literature class?

“There is a rich historical connection between the play and what happened in the American colonization,” said Ms. Quinn.

Ms. Quinn said the play is great literature. “It is Shakespeare’s last play and it’s got rich 3 dimensional characters.”

The objective of combining using the play in class with a performance is that allows students to closely read the play, as well as giving the students a chance to take part in “real action.”
