“I’m excited to see a lot more trees, moose and the sun,” said Lila Peterson, the new business manager for Galena City School District.

Her first day at work in Galena was on January 6. Ms. Peterson’s job is to handle and oversees payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, grants, and capital improvement projects.

Ms. Peterson worked for Lower Yukon School District for 20 years in various departments. Later, she moved to Kotzebue for three years as the assistant director of administrator services for the Northwest Arctic School District.

Her last job was in Utqiagvik with North Slope Borough School District.
