Science fair is coming to SHS on Thursday, March 14 in the elementary gym.

The elementary teachers in grades kindergarten through 8th grade are teaching their students about the scientific method by having them participating in a science fair and sharing their scientific knowledge, said Debbie Koontz, the teacher for the 1st and 2nd graders and one of the organizers of the fair.

Judging will happen from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on the day of the fair, and parents, families, and community members are invited to view the projects and experiments from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Ms. Koontz said some of the judges will be from the Department of Fish and Wildlife. The winner, if good enough, will travel to Fairbanks and participate in the Interior Alaska Science Fair.
