The Galena Hawks volleyball team fought hard but lost their matches to the visiting Bethel Warriors on Sept. 8 and 9 in the SHS gym.

Coach Keilah Havener said the returning volleyball leaders made some amazing plays, but there were other girls who had never played a match before.

Friday’s scores were 6-25, 8-25, and 11-25. Saturday’s scores were 5-25, 14-25, and 12-25.

Coach Havener said less experienced girls got their serving “up and in” on Friday. On Saturday the girls got their first game jitters out and worked well as a team.

The girls are working on improving their serving and receiving the ball, and working on getting passes to the setter.

Best moment in the game when the less experience players and returning leaders making amazing plays, and junior Angelica Firmin got a spike.

Top players Kiana Korta and Reece Sam-Mark on Friday. Saturdays games was so well as a team coach Havener couldn’t decide who were top players.

Both volleyball teams had trouble with interference in the game yelling “serving” when the player is ready to serve.
