When the school decided to combine the boarding school and local students into a single high school, the school newspaper decided to change its name to be more inclusive. We had a contest asking for a new name, and the student staff decided to select Hawk Highlights. The name was suggested by Sarah Brown of Galena, who was a fifth-grade student at the time.
