The annual health academy was in Galena last month.

Nineteen students showed up, most of whom are IDEA students visiting Galena.

“It was very positive. Everybody passed the ETT [Emergency Trauma Training]. They all got their certificates,” said Carrie Given, next year’s health teacher.

“The instructor, Jan Dick, from North Pole, did an amazing job,” said Ms. Given.

Ms. Given described the mock accident as the best part of the academy.

The mock accident was a training exercise for the students. A few students acted as victims in an accident that had injuries. Then the rest of the students had to figure out what to do in that situation. Natalie Olender, music and arts director at Ptarmigan Hall, helped with the make-up.

The students who attended the academy and earned the ETT certificate are:
Connie Tomlinson
Bethany Graham
Luke Kawalske
Jeremiah Moyer
Tiffany Peters
